India to Introduce a Policy on Shale Gas Next Year

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (New Delhi) says that India will announce a Shale Gas Policy tentatively by March 31, 2013. “Considering the importance and the potential of alternate source of oil and gas, the government has initiated steps for identification of prospective areas and assessment of shale gas resources in the country as well as to formulate a policy on shale gas,” says Jaipal Reddy, minister of petroleum and natural gas.
