BASF declines to comment on talks with Essar on petchems JV

BASF today declined to comment on Indian press reports that it is in discussions with privately owned Essar (Mumbai) to form a $2-billion petrochemicals joint venture in India. “It is our company policy that we don't comment on market rumors or speculation,” a spokesperson said today in response to CW’s question.  The report in India’s The Economic Times cites “people directly involved in the discussions” without naming individuals.   Essar is one of India’s largest conglomerates involved in steel, energy...
