Regions :: Eastern Europe :: Russia Socar to Build Nitrogen Fertilizer Complexes in Azerbaijan and in Georgia5:01 AM MDT | June 8, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz The State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan (Socar; Baku) plans to build two nitrogen fertilizer complexes. One of these is a previously announced project to be located at the company’s Azerikhimya subsidiary at Sumgait, Azerbaijan. The second one will be built on the Black Sea coast near Poti in Georgia. Socar says it has applied to the Georgian government for a free industrial zone status for the future complex. The company hopes to receive the status this year so it can proceed with the infrastructure work. Construction of the facility is expected to begin next...
