Regions :: Eastern Europe :: Russia Sibur completes MTBE expansion12:20 PM MST | January 3, 2013 | Ian Young Sibur (Moscow) says it has completed an expansion of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) capacity at Tchaikovsky, Russia, to 220,000 m.t./year, from 200,000 m.t./year. The project involved the installation of additional heat exchangers and MTBE synthesis equipment, Sibur says. Sibur says that its other major MTBE plant is at Tobolsk, Russia, with a capacity of 150,000 m.t./year. The company says it produced more than 400,000 m.t. of MTBE in total during 2011.
