Reliance Declares Interest in Producing Petchems in Russia

Reliance Industries is interested in becoming a major petrochemical producer in Russia, according to Indian press reports last week. Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani is widely quoted as saying that the company would like to establish a “mega petrochemical plant” in Russia. Ambani met with members of a high-level Russian delegation that accompanied Russian president Vladimir Putin on a visit to India in late January. Reliance is interested in acquiring or building a refinery, or developing a gas field, to provide raw materials for the petchem complex...
