Mitsui & Co. Proposes Ammonia, Methanol Plants in Russia

Mitsui & Co. is proposing to build an export-oriented ammonia and methanol production complex at Sakhalin Island, Russia that would target Asia/Pacific and the U.S. markets. Mitsui is a member of a consortium developing the Sakhalin II energy project. Sakhalin would be a good location to produce methanol and ammonia, and Mitsui “would like to work on this issue,” says Toshihiro Tanaka, head of Mitsui’s first chemicals business unit, quoted in recent Russian press reports.
