Gazprom and Dow Firm up Petchem JV Plans; Sibur Joins

Gazprom (Moscow) and Dow Chemical have firmed up their previously announced joint venture negotiations by signing a “memorandum of intent in the sphere of hydrocarbons processing.” Sibur (Moscow), a Gazprom affiliate that is Russia’s biggest producer of petrochemicals, also signed the memorandum. Gazprom and Dow say that the agreement could lead to formation of a jv that would expand petchem facilities operated by Dow in Germany, or build new facilities there, and establish a jv that would build a world-scale petchem complex in Russia.
