Regions :: Eastern Europe :: Czech republic Unipetrol Closes Unprofitable Urea Plant4:21 AM MDT | June 8, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Unipetrol (Prague), a member of the PKN Orlen Group (Plock, Poland), said today that it intends to close permanently its urea production facility at Litvínov, Czech Republic by the end of this year. The company cites economic reasons for the closure. The facility has been making losses in the last two years, it says. Unipetrol’s Agro division will continue to manufacture ammonia and carbon black. The closure will lead to 50 job losses with the possibility of some workers being transferred to other units.
