Two Tanker Explosions Reported12:17 PM MDT | March 26, 2012 | Ian Young and Deepti Ramesh Stolt Tankers, a Stolt-Nielsen subsidiary, says that a fire on one of its chemical tankers, caused by a recent explosion, resulted in one missing crew member. The explosion occurred on March 15 as the ship, Stolt Valor, was crossing the Arabian Gulf. There has been no spillage of fuel oil from the ship, nor any reported or visible spillage of cargo, Stolt says. Stolt Valor was transporting methyl tert-butyl ether. "Full investigations into the cause of the accident are being conducted," Stolt says. Stolt Valor is a 2004-built tanker of 25,268 dwt. The...
