Two Tanker Explosions Reported

Stolt Tankers, a Stolt-Nielsen subsidiary, says that a fire on one of its chemical tankers, caused by a recent explosion, resulted in one missing crew member. The explosion occurred on March 15 as the ship, Stolt Valor, was crossing the Arabian Gulf. There has been no spillage of fuel oil from the ship, nor any reported or visible spillage of cargo, Stolt says. Stolt Valor was transporting methyl tert-butyl ether.
