Regions :: Eastern Europe GHG Emissions of EU ETS Participants Decreased 2% in 20112:54 PM MDT | May 15, 2012 | Sotirios Frantzanas The European Commission says greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from installations participating in the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) decreased by more than 2% in 2011 compared with 2010, to 1.89 billion m.t. of CO2-equivalent, based on information provided by EU member-state registries. The level of compliance of companies with the EU ETS rules was high again--less than 1% of the installations participating did not surrender allowances covering all of their 2011 emissions by the deadline of April 30 2012, the commission says.
