EU carbon permit prices tumble to a record low

Prices on the European Union's carbon market dropped to record lows last week after a European Parliament committee voted against plans by the European Commission to support carbon prices. Permit prices in the EU emissions trading system (EU ETS) slumped by almost 40% in minutes, to €2.81/m.t. ($3.78), after the vote on 24 January.
