ECHA adds six substances to Reach authorization candidate list

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) says its member state committee has agreed to identify six new substances of very high concern (SVHC). The six substances have been added to the candidate list for authorization under the European Union's Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) legislation. The decision follows a public consultation and documentation substantiating the products' hazards, ECHA says. The number of SVHCs on the candidate list has, as a result, risen to 144.
