ECHA adds 54 substances to Reach candidate list

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) has added 54 substances of very high concern (SVHC) to the candidate list of substances for authorization under the European Union's Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) legislation. Adding the 54 substances expands the candidate list to 138 substances, exceeding a target set by the European Commission to have 136 SVHCs on the candidate list by the end of 2012.
