WHO Sets Standards for Melamine in Milk1:35 PM MDT | July 16, 2012 | Deepti Ramesh The World Health Organization (WHO; Geneva) says that the Codex Alimentarius Commission, a food standards body jointly run by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO; Rome) of the United Nations (UN), and WHO, has agreed on new regulations, including the maximum level of melamine in liquid milk formula for babies. The commission has set a maximum limit of 0.15 mg/kg for melamine in liquid infant milk. Other measures adopted include new food safety standards on seafood, melons, dried figs and food labeling.
