Some Construction Projects in China Fail Environmental Impact Checks

The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP; Beijing) says that it launched a check on the environmental impact reviews of 282 construction projects in China between November 2009 and March 2010, and found that 48 of them were ‘flawed’ and of ‘relatively low quality’. A majority of the 282 projects are petrochemical plants, metallurgy plants, or projects that are of high public concern such as landfills, MEP says.
