Solvay and Shanghai 3F form TFE and PTFE production joint venture

Solvay and Shanghai 3F New Material (SH3F) announced today that they have agreed to establish a production joint venture at Changshu, China, to serve the fast-growing Asian market with high-performance fluorinated polymers. The jv will produce tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The jv will be owned 80% by SH3F and 20% by Solvay. SH3F will contribute its TFE and PTFE production plant, while Solvay will contribute a cash payment and license its PTFE proprietary technology.
