Obama Leads International Challenge to China's Rare Earth Export Restrictions

The U.S., European Union (EU), and Japan have launched a joint legal challenge to China's restrictions on exports of rare earths. They have jointly requested dispute settlement consultations with China at the World Trade Organization (WTO; Geneva). President Barack Obama personally announced that the U.S. would join the EU and Japan in launching the case at the WTO.
