Mitsui Chemicals and Formosa Plastics to form electrolyte solution jv in China

Mitsui Chemicals says it today entered into an agreement with Formosa Plastics (Taipei, Taiwan) to form a joint venture company in China to manufacture and distribute electrolyte solution, one of the main components of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. The 50-50 jv company will be established in March 2013 at Formosa Plastics’ manufacturing complex at Ningbo.
