Lyondell and Sinopec Break Ground on POSM Complex

Ningbo ZRCC Lyondell Chemical Co., a joint venture between Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co. (ZRCC; Ningbo, China) and Lyondell China Holdings, has broken ground on a previously announced propylene oxide-styrene monomer (POSM) project at Ningbo (CW, Feb. 28, p. 6). The plant will have capacity to produce 285,000 m.t./year of PO and 620,000 m.t./year of SM, and will consume ethylene feedstock supplied by a ZRCC steam cracker that started operating recently, Sinopec says.
