China’s rare earth trading platform to become operational in October

The Chinese government says that the previously announced new rare earth trading platform — Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange (Baotou, China) — will become operational in October, on a trial basis. The rare earth trading exchange aims to regulate the sector and strengthen China’s pricing power for the resource. The government officially launched the trading platform at Baotou in August 2012.
