China Launches Rare Earth Trading Platform

The Chinese government says that a physical trading platform for rare earth metals was launched on August 8 at Baotou, China, as part of the country’s efforts to regulate the sector and strengthen its pricing power for these resources. Baotou is located in Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region in north China, which is home to more than half of the world's light rare earth output, the government says.
