Cabot Expands China Plant

Cabot Chemical Tianjin Co., a joint venture between Cabot Corp. and Shanghai Coking Chemical Co., has broken ground on a $65-million project to expand carbon black capacity at Tianjin, China. The jv will build two additional production lines, increasing overall capacity to 250,000 m.t./year. Completion is due in about 15 months, says Xinsheng Zhang, president of Cabot China.
