Cabot Bluestar to Expand Fumed Silica Plant in China

Cabot Bluestar Chemical (Jiangxi), a joint venture between Cabot Corp. and China National Bluestar (Beijing) has broken ground on the expansion of their fumed silica manufacturing facility in Jiangxi province, China. The $43 million investment will eventually increase the production capacity to 20,000 m.t./year of fumed silica. The first phase of expansion will increase the capacity from 5,000 m.t./year to 15,000 m.t./year and the commissioning is expected in the second half of 2011.
