Beijing launches carbon trading market

Beijing launched a carbon trading market on 28 November, making it the third city in China to establish such a trading platform, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP; Beijing) says. Shenzhen and Shanghai each launched a carbon emission trading market in June 2013 and on 26 November 2013, respectively. Nearly 490 companies, whose carbon emissions account for 40% of Beijing’s total, have been included in the carbon trading scheme in Beijing.
