Albemarle to Start Up Flame Retardant Plant in China

Albemarle says it will start up a new flame retardant plant at Nanjing, China in the second quarter of 2008. The new plant will manufacture Albemarle’s NcendX P-30 brand, a bisphenol A diphosphate flame retardant used in electronic enclosure plastics. The plant will have initial capacity of 4,000 m.t./year. “This new plant will improve Albemarle’s flexibility to supply our Asian customers as well as the rest of our global customer base for this important and growing flame retardant,” says Luc Van Muylem, v.p./polymer additives.
