Nippon Shokubai provides Himeji damage cost estimates, may restart Chattanooga SAP facility

Nippon Shokubai has provided CW with an exclusive update on its Himeji, Japan, manufacturing complex regarding the 29 September explosion and fire there, which resulted in the death of one firefigher, as well as several serious injuries, and closed the entire complex until further notice. The accident knocked out 18% of the global capacity for superabsorbent polymers (SAP) and the company tells CW that it is considering measures to leverage some more capacity from its other SAP facilities.
