BHP says potash could become a core business

Resources company BHP Billiton (Melbourne) says that its fledgling potash operations could become a pillar of the company's business. BHP issued a statement today in response to "recent speculation about the group's portfolio." The statement names iron ore, copper, coal, and petroleum as BHP's core businesses. "By increasing our focus on these four pillars, with potash as a potential fifth, we will be able to more quickly improve the productivity and performance of our largest businesses," the statement says.
