Regions :: Africa :: South Africa Tronox Acquires Mineral Sands Business, Ups Back-Integration12:04 PM MDT | October 7, 2011 | —Natasha Alperowicz Titanium dioxide (TiO2) producer Tronox has announced plans to acquire the mineral sands operations of Exxaro Resources (Pretoria, South Africa) in exchange for approximately 38.5% of Tronox’s equity. The deal includes Exxaro’s 50% interest in the Tiwest joint venture with Tronox in Western Australia, as well as 74% of Exxaro’s KZN Sands and Namakwa Sands operations in South Africa.
