South Africa's AECI more than doubles first-half profit

AECI (Johannesburg) reports 401 million rand ($41 million) in net profit during the first half, up from the R136 million reported in same period last year, the company says. Profit before tax stood at R551 million, more than twice the sum reported during the first half of 2012. Sales increased by 13%, to R7.22 billion, during the reported period compared with R6.41 billion the year before.
