Lanxess's chrome mine in South Africa hit by strike

Miners at the Rustenburg, South Africa, chrome mine owned by Lanxess went on an strike on Thursday and are still striking today. A spokesperson for Lanxess told CW that the miners are demanding an annual performance payment (APP) in addition to the existing signed agreement between the company and its workforce. The APP bonus scheme depends on the company’s global performance, Lanxess says. It is only applicable to eligible employees and is among the various bonus schemes designed to meet the needs and regulations of the 50 worldwide...
