A consortium of investors backed by private equity firm Absa Capital (Johannesburg) has acquired polyolefins manufacturer Safripol (Sasolburg, South Africa) from Sentrachem (Johannesburg), a Dow Chemical subsidiary. Financial terms were not disclosed. Safripol manufactures high-density polyethylene and polypropylene at Sasolburg. “The transaction opportunity arose when Dow decided to dispose of the Safripol division as it wishes to focus its investment priorities in other regions, particularly in the Mideast and China,” Absa says.
