Reports: Egypt mulls petrochemical complex near Alexandria

The Egyptian government is mulling the creation of a petrochemical complex in the Merghem region of Alexandria, according to Egyptian news sources. Mounir Fakhri Abdel-Nour, minister of trade and industry, announced that he has formed a committee to outline a vision for the establishment of a petrochemical complex there, the reports say. The plan also targets the development of small and medium-size plastics converting firms in the vicinity of the complex, the reports add.
