Olefins Prices Mostly Down on Both Sides of the Atlantic

Petrochemcial prices continued to slide this week, with a few exceptions. Traders say concern over the near-term economic outlook caused buyers to be selective. Both ethane and butane were stable, while propane was lower by a penny and naphtha dropped about 5 cts/gal. Spot olefins in the U.S. were mixed. Spot ethylene fell about 3 cts/lb, to about 67 cts-70 cts/lb, while both grades of propylene lost about 5 cts/lb.
