Maintenance Spikes Aromatics Prices Higher

Considerable activity was reported in European aromatics marketwhere strong derivative demand was said to catch the market unawares. Buyers say they found scant volumes and producers say they have few immediate options, with autumn maintenance planned at several plants. Traders say shorts trying to cover are making the situation worse. Spot benzene in NWE shot higher by $190/m.t. while toluene gained $100/m.t. players say.
