![]() Intermediates Markets Pick Up in New Year11:23 AM MST | January 21, 2011 | Lindsey Bewley After a month becalmed over the holidays, intermediates markets roared out of the gate in the first half of January with gainers running the table. The only exception was January ortho-xylene contracts, which rolled from December. However, producers immediately nominated hefty increases for February: 9 cts/lb in the U.S. and a comparable €150/m.t. in Europe. Most of the rest of the market saw similar scale increases. Spot para-xylene rose $150/m.t. on both sides of the Atlantic; January pX was settled higher by 7 cts/lb in the U.S. and €90/m.t. in...
