Aromatics Prices Move Higher in Europe, Quiet in U.S.

On the U.S. Gulf Coast spot aromatics were reported to be flat, except for spot styrene, which rose a substantial 4 cts/lb. Market watchers say it is unusual for styrene to rise without benzene leading the way, but in this case monomer and polymer markets in North America were said to be responding to sharp moves in Europe. Spot benzene zipped higher by $25/m.t. and spot styrene rose $20/m.t.
