Aromatics Prices Mostly Up in U.S. and Europe

North American aromatics markets were lower, with BTX in a rare coordinated retreat—down 10 cts/gal—market watchers report. As noted for styrene, existing plant outages were exacerbated this week by low water on the Mississippi River. Styrene spiked 3 cts/lb and is expected to go higher as force majeure declarations are made in both monomer and polymer.
