Aromatics Prices Fall

Benchmark spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf was lower by 15 cts/gal, but spot toluene managed to eek out a net gain with bids rising 10 cts/gal against offers holding steady. In Europe, buyers report big declines in spot benzene, off $80/m.t. but that same small uptick in toluene, this time gaining $10/m.t. Styrene was off by $40/m.t. In a surprise early settlement, the fourth-quarter methanol contract was settled in Europe at an increase of €25/m.t. Spot prices rose in response, with European material gaining €40/m.t. and North American methanol...
