Polymers Prices Slip in August

Trading was reported uneven in polymer markets, with U.S. July contract prices for polyolefins confirmed sharply lower, much to the disgust of producers. The average decline was around 10 cts/lb. Spot numbers had already led the way down in recent weeks, traders say, but the settlements drove export high-density polyethylene (HDPE) down a further $200/m.t.
