![]() Polymers Prices Slip in August9:23 PM MDT | August 11, 2011 | Lindsey Bewley Trading was reported uneven in polymer markets, with U.S. July contract prices for polyolefins confirmed sharply lower, much to the disgust of producers. The average decline was around 10 cts/lb. Spot numbers had already led the way down in recent weeks, traders say, but the settlements drove export high-density polyethylene (HDPE) down a further $200/m.t. Business was even spottier in Europe. Spot low-density PE was the rare gainer for the week, rising $90/m.t.
