Polymer prices stagnant

Polymer prices were reported to be quiet over the first half of the month. The notable exception was polystyrene (PS), for which a power outage at the American Styrenics plant in California drove a modest uptick, about $40/m.t, in spot prices. The opposite occurred in Europe, where softening demand led prices lower $30/m.t. August contract prices in Europe were largely unchanged, with most producers nominating increases of €10–50/m.t.
