Polymer Prices Ease Lower in May

Even as producers on both sides of the Atlantic beat the drum for May price increases, export prices from North America eased lower in the first half of the month in the face of buyer resistance. Converters in Europe and Latin America say they are unwilling to purchase anything more than incremental pounds at prevailing prices. Polyethylene and polystyrene were said to be offered at $100/m.t. less, while polypropylene was peddled at a discount of $200/m.t.
