Polymer contracts settle

Export and spot prices for polymer played catch up in the last days of October, and markets digested the various contract settlements. Polyolefins were lower in North America in a wide range, from down just $20/m.t. for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) blow-molding grade to $60/m.t. for copolymer polypropylene (PP) to $120-150 for most other polyolefins. The loss leader was low density polyethylene (LDPE), which tumbled $220/m.t. Polystyrene (PS) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) gained an average of $100/m.t.
