U.S. Olefins Prices Ease; Contract Activity is Mixed

North American olefins were down this week, but only slightly. Spot ethylene fell about a penny, to 36 cts-37 cts/lb, while spot butadiene was down about 2 cts/lb, in a widening range. Both grades of spot propylene remained stable, sources say. In contract news, no settlement has been reached for July ethylene. Market watchers expect a two-month deal with August.
