Spot petchem prices mixed

Steady prices for crude oil and natural gas left petrochemicals markets without strong upstream direction this week. In northwest Europe, spot naphtha ticked higher by $10/m.t. for the second week in a row. That provided support for olefins producers that said they were cutting back on steam cracker operating rates in an effort to bolster spot ethylene prices which are very weak.
