Spot olefin prices mixed, US natural gas hits peak

The week was calm in petrochemical markets, traders say. Primary hydrocarbon prices were higher, notably North American natural gas prices that broke $6/million Btu level for the first time in years because of lasting severe winter weather across the continent. In Europe, the spot olefins business was said to be finding its new level. Ethylene was lower by just €20/m.t. ($28).
