Petrochemical prices mostly decline

Declines in most major petrochemical prices continued into this week and included most contract settlements. With spot naphtha in northwest Europe drifting down another $10/m.t., and polymer prices faltering, the October ethylene contract was agreed lower by €35/m.t. Propylene was settled down by €40/m.t., but the recovery in butadiene was affirmed with a the first contract increase in many months, a rise of €50/m.t.
