Petchem Prices Increase for September

Petrochemical markets were relatively quiet in the first week of September, with the U.S. Gulf Coast coping with the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac and European markets just coming back to life after the late August holidays. Ethane has stayed relatively steady in U.S., with only a slight drop in pricing, while propane jumped to 96 cts/gal. Spot naphtha in northwest Europe ticked higher by $20/m.t., but all eyes were fixed on September contract settlements in olefins.
