Olefins settlements mixed

Crude oil prices dipped slightly this week after a sharp rise in previous weeks, giving petrochemical markets a break as traders returned from summer holidays. Still, September contract settlements did not go smoothly in European olefins. Ethlyene was agreed higher by €50/m.t. Notably, signs of life were seen in butadiene with a small but directionally important increase of €25/m.t., the first movement in many months.
