April olefin contracts settled in Europe

With economic indicators and downstream demand flagging, olefins producers in Europe were quick to settle April contracts while they could contain their losses, market watchers say. Ethylene was agreed down by €60/m.t. ($77), while propylene was done lower by €50/m.t. Spot prices showed greater variability, traders report, with ethylene tumbling €80/m.t., but propylene, already depressed, only shed €30/m.t. Spot butadiene was said to be lower by $50/m.t. ahead of any confirmed contract...
