October contract settlements ease lower in petchems

Overall, petrochemical markets were weaker to start October, with most contract settlements easing lower. There were a few notable exceptions, mostly due to local production issues. In particular, operating problems were reported at Sabic’s steam cracker at Geleen, the Netherlands, which reportedly drove spot olefins higher: ethylene by €30/m.t. and propylene by €20/m.t.
